Our regional branches across Aotearoa

Te Kaunihera o Ngā Neehi Māori is connected through a network of regional branches (peka), ensuring Māori nurses and tauira are supported locally while remaining connected nationally.

Each branch plays a vital role in strengthening relationships, sharing knowledge, and bringing the kaupapa of Te Kaunihera to life in their own rohe.

Why Peka matter

Our branches are where connection becomes real.

They ensure that Māori nurses and tauira are not isolated, but part of a wider collective that is active, visible, and responsive within their own communities.

Through peka, Te Kaunihera remains grounded in the realities of local health environments while staying connected to national leadership and kaupapa.

Why branches exist

What branches do

What each branch does

  • Connect Māori nurses and tauira in their region

  • Host local hui, wānanga, and events

  • Support engagement with Te Kaunihera kaupapa

  • Provide a pathway for leadership and participation

  • Feed regional voices into national decision-making

How branches fit into Te Kaunihera

Each branch is part of a national network that feeds into Te Komiti Teina, Te Komiti Tuakana, and the wider governance structure of Te Kaunihera.

This ensures that local voices are not only heard, but actively shape the direction of Māori nursing at a national level.

Our Branches

Te Kaunihera has active branches across Aotearoa, each led by committed Māori nurses and tauira working to strengthen connection within their rohe.

Contact your local peka

If you are a Māori nurse or tauira, your local branch is your first point of connection within Te Kaunihera.

Through your peka, you can attend events, connect with others in your region, and contribute to both local and national kaupapa.

Branch Contacts

Our branch representatives lead connection within their regions, supporting Māori nurses and tauira to stay engaged at a local level. They also ensure regional voices, experiences, and priorities are shared and represented across Te Kaunihera at a national level.
