Kaunihera Structure
Te Kaunihera o Ngā Neehi Māori is built on a strong, connected network of national leadership and regional branches.
Our structure ensures that Māori nurses across Aotearoa are represented, supported, and connected - while maintaining a clear pathway for leadership, communication, and decision-making at every level.

Kaunihera Leadership and Governance
This structure outlines how Te Kaunihera operates at a national level, including the roles and responsibilities that guide our direction and decision-making.
At the centre is our national leadership, supported by committees and representatives who work collectively to uphold our kaupapa, strengthen the organisation, and advocate for Māori nursing across Aotearoa.
This ensures that decisions are informed by lived experience, grounded in kaupapa Māori, and aligned with the needs of our members and communities.

Regional Branches and Representation
Our regional branch network connects Māori nurses and tauira across the motu. Each branch plays a vital role in supporting local members, strengthening relationships, and ensuring regional voices are heard at a national level.
Through this structure, information flows both ways - enabling national initiatives to reach communities, while local insights, challenges, and successes help shape the direction of Te Kaunihera.
This connection between local and national levels is key to building a strong, responsive, and unified Māori nursing workforce.
Together, this structure reflects a collective approach—grounded in connection, representation, and shared leadership—to support Māori nurses and improve outcomes for whānau, hapū and iwi.
